WooCommerce Tip: How Adding a “Buy Now” Button Increased My Clients’ Sales

For any online store, the goal is simple: make it as simple as possible for a customer to buy. Any extra click, any extra page load, is a risk of losing the sale.

As a WordPress and WooCommerce developer with over 7 years of experience and 350+ successful e-commerce websites on my resume, I've become obsessed with getting rid of that friction. Today, I'm sharing one of the most effective, single modifications I implement that consistently boosts conversion rates: adding a "Buy Now" button.

The Secret Issue with the Default 'Add to Cart' Process

The default WooCommerce process is familiar: a customer finds a product they like, clicks "Add to Cart," then has to navigate to a separate cart page, review it, and finally click "Proceed to Checkout." While this works for people buying multiple items, it creates unnecessary steps—or friction—for the customer who knows exactly what they want and is ready to buy now. My Solution: Inserting a Direct 'Buy Now' Button

This is a simple, yet successful, solution that I have implemented on several clients of mine. Along with a standard "Add to Cart" button on the product page, I add a second, stand-alone "Buy Now" button.

When a customer clicks on "Buy Now," it skips the cart page altogether and proceeds to the final checkout page with the single item ready to buy. It's a method I apply using custom code or light, specialized add-ons so that it will function flawlessly without slowing the site down.

The Results? Fewer Abandoned Carts and Increased Sales.

Its effect is direct and quantifiable. Here's what my customers have continually experienced:

It Appeals to Impulse Buyers: For a consumer who is ready to buy, the "Buy Now" button is the fast lane. It fulfills their instant need and decreases the likelihood of second thoughts, and that's a big plus for conversion rate.

It Simplifies the Mobile Experience: On a small phone screen, fewer clicks are always better. One-step ride from product to checkout page is so much faster and smoother of an experience for mobile shoppers, who account for growing e-commerce traffic.

It Eradicates Cart Abandonment: An astronomical percentage of cart abandonment happens on the cart page itself. By giving assertive customers a means to avoid it altogether, you immediately eliminate a massive source of lost sales.
